Marathon Paintings
The marathon paintings first began with ideation. I drew 30 tiny drawings, varying media from one to another, all relating to a similar concept of body image, self perception, and anxiety. After peer discussions about my ideas, I chose 10 of the 30 to paint on 10 identical surfaces. For the surfaces, I decided on a square composition, 12” x 12” in size. Over a 3 week time period, I painted multiple of these simultaneously. I found an attraction to patterns, a certain color palette, and mark-making.
